All India Coordinated Research Project on Small Millets (AICRP-Small Millets)

The All India Coordinated Research Project on Small Millets (Formerly known as All India Coordinated Small Millets Improvement Project – AICSMIP) was established at Bengaluru in 1986. It has the responsibility to plan, coordinate and execute the multi-locational research programmes to augment the production and productivity of the seven small millets viz., finger millet, kodo millet, little millet, foxtail millet, barnyard millet, proso millet and browntop millet in the country. The mandated research in the project is carried out through network of 13 centres located in State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), ICAR institutes and 19 cooperating centres, across the country. Project Coordinating Unit is also a Nodal centre for DUS testing and CRP on Agro-Biodiversity Project.
